LIBRARY –TREASURE OF KNOWLEDGE

College of Community and Applied Sciences has a well equipped Library with latest information technology based resources like CD ROM, database search, OPAC, Internet Browsing etc. for the benefit of the students, faculties and researchers. The Library has been spread across an area of 4402 square ft and can accommodate 100 readers.

The Library has robust collection of 26076 books and library operations have been completely automated using KOHA software. The library linked with various consortiums for online journals. This library provides a HUB connecting LAN acting as a nodal center for disseminating all kinds of information to the College of Community & Applied Sciences and CDFT College.

College library has two main collections i.e. print and digital.

• Print collection includes books, bound journals, PhD thesis, current periodicals, patents, standard reports etc.
• Digital collection mainly deals with e-books, e-journals, databases etc.

Library Treasure:-

College Library has following sections:

• Reference Section: It houses a range of reference books to provide quick and accessible information on any particular topic.
• Competitive Examination Cell: It provides useful material for aspirants of ICAR, ASRB,ARS,JRF/NET,UPSC,GMAT, and all bank examinations
• Circulation Section: This section looks after the issue and return of the books, collection of overdue charges, processing membership cards etc.
• Periodical Section: We subscribe various national and international journals and magazines to provide-up-to date nascent information to our users.
• Digital Services: A digital infrastructure with internet and computer with latest configurations has been set up.
• CERA: The ICAR has provided consortium online e-resources service called CERA under NAIP project from 2008 onwards. It provides access to nearly 2900 journals online from agriculture and allied disciplines.
• J-Gate Agriculture and biological sciences: It provides access to online e-journals portal called J-Gate under CERA.
• Krishi Kosh: It is an institutional repository under national agricultural research system which has a collection of old and valuable books, records and various documents spread all over the country in different libraries of research institutions and state agriculture universities.
• OPAC: It provides online public access catalogue to the teachers, scientists, extension specialists and students and helps to search and retrieve the information of the holding of library.
• Reprographic Services: An Added Facility of photocopying is provide in the library.
• CCTV: CCTV has been set up for effective monitoring of every section.
• Book Bank Section: In view of improving textbook availability a book bank was started in the year 1975 at College. This is a special book bank scheme for the SC,ST and OBC students. A Special textbook collection has been built up for the benefit of the students.All the U.G, P.G, Ph.D. students are eligible to take advantage of the book bank. A membership fee is Rs 15 per semester. Member will get 3 books from available stock of books with the book bank.
