About Home Sc. Alumni Association

College of Community and Applied Sciences was established in the year 1966 at Udaipur. Since inception, the institute has attained heights of excellence in multi dimensions. Thousands of graduates and post graduates of this college are spread far & wide in the country & abroad. They have excelled in various fields as academicians, administrators, teachers, scientists, extension workers, counsellors, entrepreneurs etc. Their contributions are numerous & well recognized, however up till now , there was no forum through which they could rejoice & revive the memories of those good old days spent in this college as well as to carry out fruitful activities for the betterment of this institute.

Prof. Arti Sankhla after taking over as Dean, College of Community and Applied Sciences in October, 2010, took initiative towards forming Alumni Association. Ad-hoc working group was constituted to frame the constitution and take up membership drive. A meeting of locally available alumni members was convened. These efforts paid dividend. The constitution was framed. The executive members were nominated and with 45 registered members The Home Science Alumni Association started functioning from February 8th, 2011. At present with Life Membership strength of about 200 Alumni,Home Science Alumni Association is deeply engaged in academic and social activities; which contributes towards liaison between the alumni and the college. It also aims to seek support for the growth and development of alumni, the students as well as the college.

Accomplishment

  • Established a Corpus Fund from life membership contribution with a policy decision that the membership subscription will always form a part of this fund.
  • Prof. Arti Sankhla Patron and Dean,College of Community and Applied Sciences donated rupees one lakh towards scholarship for the needy students of the college. Two to three students of College of Community and Applied Sciences are being provided with the scholarship each year.
  • First meeting of local alumni members was held on 28th May 2011 to discuss about the constitution and future projections. Sixty one alumni members attended the meeting.
  • The First Alumni Meet and Felicitation Program of alumni members passed during 1969 to 1975 (UG) and 1980 (PG) , was held on 18th September, 2011 at College of Community and Applied Sciences, Udaipur. The function was attended by 113 alumni and was well received. Every one admired the first- ever step in this direction to bring the Ex-students closer to their Alma-mater that too, after a long period of 45 years. Ms. Mary Wellington, Ex-Prof., HDFS, one of the oldest alumni of the college graced the occasion as chief guest.
  • Directory of life members of alumni was published and released on this occasion.
  • A two days National Workshop sponsored by National Council for Women (NCW) New Delhi and Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur was organised on 21st – 22nd September, 2012,in collaboration with Home Science Association. The theme of the workshop was “Impact of Science and Technology on Social Changes: Women Issues and Challenges”. Honourable Mrs. Mamta Sharma, Chairperson NCW graced the occasion as chief guest and Prof. O.P. Gill, Vice Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur was the special guest. About 120 participants from various parts of the country attended the workshop. Prof. Amla Batra, Prof Emeritus, CSIR, was the Key note speaker. Panel discussion and lectures by eminent speakers were the highlights of the workshop.
  • Souvenir and Proceeding of the workshop have been published.
  • The Society got registered under the Rajasthan Cooperative Societies Registration Act 1958 bearing Reg. No. 120/ Udaipur/2013-14 on 27th January, 2014.
  • An Awareness Dialogue on “Menopause:Problems and Solutions” was organized by Home Science Alumni Association in collaboration with Indian Menopause Society,(Udaipur Chapter) on 10th October 2014 in College of Community and Applied Sciences,Udaipur at 3.30 -5 p.m.
  • Breast feeding day was celebrated on 1 st August,2015 in collaboration with Rotory Club,Udaipur and HSc Alumni Association,Udaipur. On this occasion, Dr Devendra Sareen,Former Head, Paediatrics Dept,RNT Medical College briefed the students about the Benefits of Breast Feeding. A Quiz competition was also organized and the the winners were given away prizes by the Rotary President.
  • Golden Jublee of the college was celebrated in the year 2016.

Future Plans:-

  • The Association would carry on meaningful activities for the betterment of the Institute and its Alumni.
