The Department of Food Science & Nutrition is one of the departments in the faculty of Community and Applied Sciences and plays a key role in promoting quality of life of individual as well as community. Department is well established and offers variety of courses in the field of Food Nutrition and Dietetics at UG level and Food and Nutrition at PG (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) level. The courses are designed to meet the changing requirements of the society and food industry. Besides teaching, the department has developed a sound research and extension base, making them an integral part of its activities. The mandate of the department is to improve the nutritional status and create general awareness among the population regarding the importance of balanced diet, nutrition and its relationship to health in order to improve quality of life through enhanced physical and mental performance.
